Don’t get thrown off by the unpredictable, remain calm with our Illinois Life Insurance!
Are you concerned about the recent natural disaster that struck the area? Although it was a minor earthquake, it is still an event that no one could have predicted. What if the incident was much bigger and caused damages or injuries? This is something you don’t want to risk, which is why you need protection you can count on.
According to The Chicago Tribune, in suburban McHenry last night, the most unexpected event occurred. A minor earthquake hit the area, sending tiny tremors across Chicago, officials said. It registered at a relatively small 2.4-magnitude, just before 10 p.m. “It was very minor,” said U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist Jessica Turner.
USGS received some reports of “very light shaking” in Chicago, 44 miles away, she said. “I was asleep, but my wife was up and heard it,” said Richard Huemann, who lives in the area where the quake struck. “She said there was definitely a large bang, like an (auto) accident. She looked out, though, and saw nothing.” There were no injuries reported, though earthquakes with an intensity less than 3-magnitude are not considered serious, according to seismologists.
At Handzel & Associates Ltd., we hope the community remained safe during the seismic activity. Although it was not considered serious, there is always the possibility for the next earthquake to be much worse.
